Dot Sheehan is the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations at the University of New Hampshire. She oversees all areas that affect the external public of this Division I, 20 sport University. They include: ticket operations, marketing and promotions, licensing, television and radio, media and public relations, special fundraising events, the UNH Sports Network, the UNH athletics website, concessions and volleyball.
Sheehan has been at UNH for 15 years and is responsible for and manages over $3 million worth of revenue. Sheehan is currently active in the National Association of College Marketing Administrators (NACMA) and helps to raise money for many charities – Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Clubs, Salvation Army and women’s shelters, to name a few.
Prior to her time in the Wildcat Athletic Department, Sheehan was the President of Sheehan Sports Marketing, a consulting company that has represented professional athletes on the marketing side of their lives. She has worked with many professional athletes and coaches as well as major corporations to put sports into their overall marketing plans.
Additionally, Sheehan was part of the initial consulting group that opened the Ted Williams Museum and Hitter’s Hall of Fame in Citrus Hills, Florida and instrumental in raising over $650,000 in corporate sponsorships. She also created and managed the Eric Montross Father’s Day Basketball Camp in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, a first of its kind – where 50% of the campers were terminally ill children. Proceeds from the camp built a teen recreation lounge in the new Children’s Hospital.
Sheehan was one of the first female “agents” in sports and has continued to work with women whose goal is to make sports their career.
Sheehan is the Founder of Operation Hat Trick, a philanthropic merchandising program focused on raising funds for American soldiers and veterans. Founded in 2008, Operation Hat Trick has grown to include 45 schools across the country. School logoed hats, and soon to be other products, are for sale nationwide. A portion of the sales goes to the VA General Post Fund, a fund that donates all the monies it receives to patients recovering in VA Medical Centers. Operation Hat Trick is dedicated to Nate Hardy, son of a UNH professor, and Mike Koch, two Navy SEALs who were killed in Iraq in 2008.
