DURHAM, N.H.—The University of New Hampshire athletic department released the nine names of those being inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 2008. The announcement was made today by UNH Director of Athletics Marty Scarano.
The inductees will be honored on Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 at the Hall of Fame Banquet, which will be held in Huddleston Hall. The event is set to begin at 6 p.m.
This year’s class includes;Ty Conklin ’01 (men’s ice hockey), Grover Daniels ’79 (men’s skiing), Stacy Fimple-Glidden ’96 (Field Hockey), David Gamble ’93 (football), Theresa Redmond-Stevens ’83 (women’s basketball), Mary Beth Sydlowski-Pichette ’92 (women’s soccer), Kate Scanlon-Gehn ’92 (women’s crew), Ian Smith ’99 (men’s swimming), and David O’Connor ’66 (football and hockey), who is the winner of the Leitzel Award.

DURHAM, N.H.--The University of New Hampshire announced today that Learfield Sports has selected WGIR-AM 610 to expand the coverage of Wildcat athletics in southern New Hampshire. Beginning with the 2008-’09 athletic season, 610 AM will begin airing all regular-season and post-season men’s hockey and football broadcasts as well as a select number of men’s basketball, women’s basketball and women’s hockey broadcasts. Additionally, the Clear Channel Radio-owned station will air all football and men’s hockey coaches’ show broadcasts on Monday nights during the season and “Wildcat Sports Today”.

UNH HONOR ROLL
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A total of 201 University of New Hampshire student-athletes were named to the 2008 America East Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll for recording a grade point average of 3.0 or above in that winter/spring semester, the league announced Thursday. Of the 201 honored, 113 of those were also named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for possessing a gpa of at least 3.5, the most of any of the other institution.
In the nine-member America East conference, only Binghamton University (251 honorees) had a higher number of student-athletes recognized. The University at Albany (198), the University of Vermont (197) and Stony Brook University (188) rounded out the top five.

CAMBRIDGE, MASS— Student-athletes at the University of New Hampshire continue to excel in the classroom and as a result the Wildcats finished second in the running for the 2007-08 America East Academic Cup with an impressive cumulative grade point average of 3.12. UNH has won the Academic Cup twice, in 1998-99 and 1999-2000.
The University of Vermont narrowly edged out UNH to take home the hardware with a 3.14 GPA.
The University of Maine (3.10), Stony Brook University (3.06) and Binghamton University (3.04) were the other institutions in America East to compile grade point averages of 3.00 or better in 2007-08.

DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire women’s basketball head coach Kristin Cole has announced Lauren Moore has joined her staff as the Director of Basketball Operations, effective immediately.
"I am very thrilled to have Lauren join my staff. She is someone who will bring great energy and an excellent work ethic to our program. Lauren is very passionate about basketball and the state of New Hampshire,” Cole said. “She will relate well with our players and she cares about the overall development of the student-athletes. She is a great addition to the UNH family," she added.

DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire women’s basketball head coach Kristin Cole has announced that Kelsey Hogan (Nashua, N.H.), Lauren Wells (West Chester, Pa.) and Kelley Flynn (Hopinkton, N.H.) are going to attend UNH and play basketball for the Wildcats beginning in the fall of 2008.
“I’m incredibly excited to welcome these three young ladies into the UNH family,” Said Coach Cole. “Each of them will add to our program. They are very dedicated to being good basketball players and they are great people with strong academic backgrounds. I couldn’t be happier about our first recruiting class.”

The day camp provides fundamental instruction from UNH coaches and players to young players, grades 3 through 8. The camp will run from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. June 23-26.

WESTLAKE, Ohio – The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics recently announced that the University of New Hampshire ranks 81st out of 365 Division I schools in the NACDA Directors’ Cup standings at the end of the winter sport season.
The Wildcats have amassed 162 points, including the 25 points they tallied during the fall season. The ski team, which stands 11th overall, provided 57 points, while the third-ranked women’s hockey team supplied 55 points and the ninth-ranked men’s hockey team kicked in another 25.

DURHAM, N.H. – For the second consecutive year, guard Ashley Cerniglia (Pittsford, N.Y.) was honored with the Coaches Award presented by head coach Kristin Cole and her staff at the 2008 University of New Hampshire women’s basketball banquet.
The lone-senior overcame an injured-plagued junior season to lead this year’s team in both blocks (15) and 3-point percentage (.338) and ranked second in both scoring (10.8 ppg) and 3-pointers made (52).
