CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The America East conference announced Tuesday afternoon that senior Ben Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.) and junior Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) of the University New Hampshire men’s cross country team, and senior Kim Povec (Holland-Patent, N.Y.) and junior Courtney Hamer (Andover, Mass.) of the women’s squad, were named to the 2008 America East All-Academic Team.

BRONX, N.Y. – Senior Kim Povec (Holland-Patent, N.Y.), freshman Elizabeth Campbell (Colonia, N.J.) and sophomore Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) placed 31st, 36th and 39th, respectively, to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s cross country team to a ninth-place finish at the 34-team NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Qualifier on Saturday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park.
The Wildcats finished with 259 points, which trailed Providence College (36), Syracuse University (90), Boston College (95), Stony Brook University (118), Columbia University (140), Cornell University (189), Harvard University (226) and Boston University (228).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior captain Kim Povec (Holland-Patent, N.Y.), a runner for the University of New Hampshire women’s cross country team, was named America East Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week by the conference Tuesday.
Povec raced to a first-place finish to lead the Wildcats to a fourth-place showing at the Murray Keatinge Invitational at the University of Maine on Oct. 4. Povec completed the five-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 5.38 seconds, more than two seconds ahead of the runner up.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Allison Letourneau (Kingston, Nova Scotia), a runner for the University of New Hampshire women’s cross country team, was named America East Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week by the conference Tuesday.
Letourneau earned the honors after finishing first in UNH’s heart-breaking five-point loss to the Maine Black Bears on Friday afternoon at the Beckett Family Track Complex. Letourneau led the pack with her most impressive performance of the season as she ran the course in just 18 minutes, 10 seconds.
