    DURHAM, N.H.—UNH head coach Sean McDonnell got a good look at nearly everyone in this year’s Fall Blue/White scrimmage as the offense put up 34 points in just over two quarters of action on Wednesday afternoon at Cowell Stadium and the defense showed improved ability to run to the football and tackled well.
    UNH utilized five different quarterbacks on the afternoon. Sophomore starting QB R.J. Toman (Mission Viejo, Calif.) saw some action completing 16 of 22 passes for 116 yards and no interceptions. Backup redshirt freshman QB Kevin Decker (Armonk, N.Y.) completed 9 of 12 passes for 161 yards and connected for two TDs, one for 4 yards to junior receiver Travis Negron (San Diego, Calif.) and another for 28 yards to sophomore wide receiver J.T. Wright (Agoura Hills, Calif.).

    PHILADELPHIA—Junior tight end Scott Sicko (Stillwater, N.Y.) of the University of New Hampshire football team was recognized today as a first-team preseason All-American by “The Sports Network”.
    Sicko enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign for the Wildcats in 2007, recording 51 catches for 619 yards and six touchdowns. He finished second on the squad in catches behind only graduated senior wide receiver Keith LeVan, who recorded 71 receptions, and Sicko was third in receiving yardage. The tight end was named an All-American for his efforts in 2007 by The Sports Network.

DURHAM, N.H.—The University of New Hampshire athletic department released the nine names of those being inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 2008. The announcement was made today by UNH Director of Athletics Marty Scarano.
    The inductees will be honored on Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 at the Hall of Fame Banquet, which will be held in Huddleston Hall. The event is set to begin at 6 p.m.
This year’s class includes;Ty Conklin ’01 (men’s ice hockey), Grover Daniels ’79 (men’s skiing), Stacy Fimple-Glidden ’96 (Field Hockey), David Gamble ’93 (football), Theresa Redmond-Stevens ’83 (women’s basketball), Mary Beth Sydlowski-Pichette ’92 (women’s soccer), Kate Scanlon-Gehn ’92 (women’s crew), Ian Smith ’99 (men’s swimming), and David O’Connor ’66 (football and hockey), who is the winner of the Leitzel Award.  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR HALL OF FAME BANQUET

    PHILADELPHIA—The University of New Hampshire was ranked No. 16 in the nation in a preseason poll released by The Sports Network this week. UNH has been ranked in the top 25 since the start of the 2004 season for the longest stretch of any program in the Colonial Athletic Association.
    In addition, the CAA placed a total of six teams in the 2008 Sports Network Preseason Football Championship Subdivision Poll, as four squads were ranked among the Top-10.  Richmond, one of two defending CAA Football champions, leads the way at No. 4. Massachusetts, picked to win the 2008 CAA Football Championship and defend its 2007 league title, comes in at No. 5.James Madison earned three of the 101 total first-place votes and will begin the season ranked No. 6 in the Sports Network Top-25.  Delaware, which last year became the fourth CAA Football team in five years to play in the National Championship game, earned a No. 9 ranking in the preseason poll.  Outside of the poll's Top-10, but also among CAA Football's six ranked squads, were UNH at No. 16,

The University of New Hampshire football team will play its annual Blue/White Scrimmage on Wed., Aug. 27, at Cowell Stadium. The action will begin at approximately 1 p.m. and admission is free.
    The scrimmage provides fans with one last look at the Wildcats before they head to West Point and their opener on Sept. 6 at Army. UNH will play its home-opener on Sept. 20 vs. Albany. That contest begins at 12 p.m. at Cowell Stadium. Tickets for all UNH home games are still available online at www.unhwildcats.com.

DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire football team kicked off fall practice with its annual Media Day held at Cowell Stadium.
    Players were interviewed by TV, radio and newspaper reporters and posed for individual and many different group photos, from the full team picture to state group shots, to football position photos.

DURHAM, N.H.--The University of New Hampshire announced today that Learfield Sports has selected WGIR-AM 610 to expand the coverage of Wildcat athletics in southern New Hampshire.  Beginning with the 2008-’09 athletic season, 610 AM will begin airing all regular-season and post-season men’s hockey and football broadcasts as well as a select number of men’s basketball, women’s basketball and women’s hockey broadcasts.  Additionally, the Clear Channel Radio-owned station will air all football and men’s hockey coaches’ show broadcasts on Monday nights during the season and “Wildcat Sports Today”.

    DURHAM, N.H.—The University of New Hampshire football team has been ranked in the top 25 polls since the beginning of the 2004 season when the Wildcats defeated Delaware in the season-opener, 24-21. This is the longest stretch in the polls by any Colonial Athletic Association team. This year the preseason top 25 polls have included the Wildcats again with UNH ranked as high as 10th and as low as 23rd so far.
    The Wildcats, who have made it to the NCAAs four consecutive times and advanced to the quarterfinals three out of the four, are coming off a 7-5 season with several key players back in the lineup.
