DURHAM, N.H. – Jake Phillips’ 17-yard touchdown pass to D.J. McAulay with 22 seconds remaining lifted the William & Mary football team to Saturday afternoon’s 38-34 victory against fourth-ranked University of New Hampshire in front 13,255 Homecoming Day fans at UNH’s Cowell Stadium.
UNH fell to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the CAA while the Tribe improved to 3-2, 1-1.
Trailing 34-31, W&M began the game-winning drive at its 28 yard-line with 4:34 on the clock. On 3rd-and-11, a Hugo Souza (Marshfield, Mass.) interception was negated by a roughing the passer infraction against the Wildcats that gave the Tribe 1st-and-10 at the 42. The visitors converted two more 3rd-and-long situations to advance the ball to the UNH 36. Three plays later, on 1st and 10 from the 17, Phillips eluded the pass rush, stepped up to the line of scrimmage and lofted a pass complete to McAulay at the left pylon for the touchdown. Brian Pate’s PAT made the score 38-34.

UNH FOOTBALL OFF TO GREAT START: The UNH football team is undefeated at 4-0, after beating Dartmouth, 42-6. UNH is also in first place in the CAA North Division, only two wins away from the 500th win in program history, and recently enjoyed an off-week in which the team rested and saw some injuries heal. But now the schedule gets tougher with nothing but CAA opponents on the horizon and it all starts this Saturday when UNH entertains William & Mary on Homecoming weekend in Durham.

PHILADELPHIA—Despite having last week off, the University of New Hampshire football team moved up one spot to No. 4 in this week’s Sports Network FCS Top 25 poll.
UNH is undefeated at 4-0 on the season after recently posting a 42-6 victory at Dartmouth on Sept. 27.
UNH is off to its best start since the 2006 season when UNH won its first five games. The last time UNH opened with six or more wins was in 1977 when the 'Cats opened up with seven consecutive victories.

PHILADELPHIA—The University of New Hampshire football team moved up to No. 5 from No. 7 on Monday in the Sports Network FCS Top 25 on the heels of the Wildcats’ decisive 42-6 Granite Bowl victory at Dartmouth on Sept. 27.
UNH is now undefeated with a 4-0 overall record and sits atop the North Division of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) with a 1-0 record in conference play.
In addition the Wildcat program now has 498 all-time victories and needs just two more to reach the 500-win milestone.
The Wildcats have an off-week before returning to action on Oct. 11 vs. CAA rival William & Mary at Cowell Stadium. Game time is 12 p.m. and tickets for the contest are still available at www.unhwildcats.com.

HANOVER, N.H.— Sophomore running back Sean Jellison (Amherst, N.H.) ran for a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter to lead the University of New Hampshire to a 42-6 Granite Bowl victory at Dartmouth College on Saturday at Memorial Field. The No.7 Wildcats remain undefeated with a 4-0 record, while the Big Green falls to 0-2 overall.Jellison (Amherst, N.H.) gave the Wildcats an early 7-0 lead at 8:28 of the first quarter with a 4 yard touchdown run that capped off a six-play, 50 yard drive. The PAT was kicked by junior kicker Tom Manning (Rome, N.Y.).

UNH FOOTBALL KEEPS FINDING WAYS TO WIN: The UNH football team is 3-0 and 1-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Wildcats are coming off a 32-24 victory over a very tough Albany squad that has given three straight CAA teams a battle. This week the Wildcats turn their attention to long-time intra-state rival Dartmouth, a team that opened their 2008 season with a loss at Colgate (34-20). The Wildcat offense continues to roll after compiling over 400 yards of offense for the second straight game and sophomore quarterback R.J. Toman has passed for nine touchdowns in UNH's last two contests. The defense put together a key second half vs. Albany, as the 'Cats recovered from a 17-14 halftime deficit to outscore the Great Danes in the second half 18-7 as the defense allowed just one TD. The defense was succesful stopping a potent Albany running game, allowing just 99 yards rushing. and the defense has done well against the run in three straight games.

PHILADELPHIA— The University of New Hampshire football team, now undefeated with a 3-0 record, moved up from No. 10 to No. 7 in this week’s Sports Network FCS Top 25 National Poll (the highest ranking so far this season).
The Wildcats, on the heels of its 32-24 home-opening victory over Albany on Sept. 20, began the 2008 campaign ranked No. 16 in The Sports Network Preseason Top 25.
UNH has opened up 3-0 for the third time in four seasons and will be attempting to reach 4-0 on Sept. 27 when the squad travels to play at Granite State rival Dartmouth in the Granite Bowl. That game will be shown live on WMUR-TV (Channel 9).

Toman (Mission Viejo, Calif.), the reigning Boston Globe Gold Helmet Award winner, passed for 255 yards and four touchdowns to lead the 10th-ranked University of New Hampshire football team to Saturday afternoon’s 32-24 non-conference victory against the University at Albany at Cowell Stadium.
UNH is now 3-0 and has opened the season with three consecutive wins for the third time in the last four years, and the Wildcats have won four straight home openers. Albany, which has played a CAA opponent in all three games this season, is 1-2.
New Hampshire’s receiving corps was led by Mike Boyle (Plymouth, N.H.; seven receptions, 79 yards, one TD) and Scott Sicko (Stillwater, N.Y.; five catches, 104 yards, two TDs). Chad Kackert (Simi Valley, Calif.) carried the ball 16 times for 106 yards and also had four receptions for 53 yards.
