DURHAM, N.H.—The University of New Hampshire athletic department released the nine names of those being inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 2008. The announcement was made today by UNH Director of Athletics Marty Scarano.
    The inductees will be honored on Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 at the Hall of Fame Banquet, which will be held in Huddleston Hall. The event is set to begin at 6 p.m.
This year’s class includes;Ty Conklin ’01 (men’s ice hockey), Grover Daniels ’79 (men’s skiing), Stacy Fimple-Glidden ’96 (Field Hockey), David Gamble ’93 (football), Theresa Redmond-Stevens ’83 (women’s basketball), Mary Beth Sydlowski-Pichette ’92 (women’s soccer), Kate Scanlon-Gehn ’92 (women’s crew), Ian Smith ’99 (men’s swimming), and David O’Connor ’66 (football and hockey), who is the winner of the Leitzel Award.

BALTIMORE--For the second consecutive year, the University of New Hampshire football team has been selected to finish second in the North Division of the Colonial Athletic Association by the league coaches and media in the CAA poll released Wed., July 23 at the conference Media Day.

DURHAM, N.H.--The University of New Hampshire announced today that Learfield Sports has selected WGIR-AM 610 to expand the coverage of Wildcat athletics in southern New Hampshire.  Beginning with the 2008-’09 athletic season, 610 AM will begin airing all regular-season and post-season men’s hockey and football broadcasts as well as a select number of men’s basketball, women’s basketball and women’s hockey broadcasts.  Additionally, the Clear Channel Radio-owned station will air all football and men’s hockey coaches’ show broadcasts on Monday nights during the season and “Wildcat Sports Today”.

    DURHAM, N.H.—The University of New Hampshire football team has been ranked in the top 25 polls since the beginning of the 2004 season when the Wildcats defeated Delaware in the season-opener, 24-21. This is the longest stretch in the polls by any Colonial Athletic Association team. This year the preseason top 25 polls have included the Wildcats again with UNH ranked as high as 10th and as low as 23rd so far.
    The Wildcats, who have made it to the NCAAs four consecutive times and advanced to the quarterfinals three out of the four, are coming off a 7-5 season with several key players back in the lineup.

    WEST POINT, N.Y. -- ESPN, Inc. and the Army Athletic Association announced yesterday that the UNH/Army game, the season-opener for the Wildcats on Sept. 6, will be shown live nationally on ESPN Classic with a kickoff time set for 1 p.m.
Army and New Hampshire have met twice previously, but not since 1922. The teams split decisions in 1921 and 1922, with Army winning 33-0 in the teams’ most-recent matchup and UNH winning 10-7 in the first contest.
    The Wildcats have won three straight games vs. FBS teams in recent years, posting victories over the likes of Rutgers in 2004 (35-24), Northwestern in 2006 (34-17) and Marshall in 2007 (48-35).

    DURHAM, N.H.—The University of New Hampshire football program will be holding its annual Granite State Football Clinics at area high schools in early June.
    The first clinic is set for June 3 at Londonderry High School, followed by one at Manchester West (June 4), Nashua (June 5), Souhegan (June 6) and Marshwood in South Berwick (June 9).
    “This is the 15th year we’ve been involved with the Granite State Football Clinics and it has been an outstanding opportunity for our UNH staff to connect with our state’s outstanding high school coaches and players,” said 10th-year UNH head coach Sean McDonnell.

    Ricky Santos is going north.
    The former University of New Hampshire quarterback has signed a multi-year deal with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. The contract, like any in the league or the National Football League, is not guaranteed and the job now is to make the roster.
    Santos is in Montreal already, said his agent, Brad Blank, last night.
    Training camp starts Sunday, the Alouettes' Web site said.

DURHAM, N.H.— Kevin Regan (South Boston, Mass.), Ricky Santos (Bellingham, Mass.) and Cathy Parker (Westford, Mass.) were honored Tuesday evening as the recipients of the Jim Urquhart Student-Athlete Of Year Award. The announcement was made at the annual Student-Athlete Senior Appreciation Banquet.
        Regan, a goalie for the men’s ice hockey team, and Santos, a quarterback for football, were co-recipients of the male athlete award.
        Regan leaves UNH after having one of the most decorated seasons in UNH history. He was named a Hobey Baker finalist, a first team All American, Hockey East Player of the Year (unanimous selection), New England’s Most Valuable Player, Walter Brown Award winner (given annually to the top American born college hockey player in New England) and selected to the All-Hockey East First Team.
