DURHAM, N.H.— The University of New Hampshire women’s gymnastics squad tied a program record by placing nine gymnasts on the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches For Women All-Academic Team honoring their outstanding efforts in the classroom in 2007-08. The women’s gymnastics program also had nine gymnasts recognized as All-Academic selections in 1999.

DURHAM, N.H.--Lindsey Bruck, a former gymnast and a 2008 graduate from the University of Michigan, has been named an assistant coach with the University of New Hampshire women’s gymnastics team. The announcement was made today by 30th-year head coach Gail Goodspeed.
Bruck, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health at Michigan, was a two-time All-American, a Honda Award finalist, a 2008 NCAA Woman Of The Year nominee, and a two-time NCAA Northeast Region Gymnast of the Year while with the Wolverines.

STANDINGSWESTLAKE, Ohio – The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics recently announced that the University of New Hampshire ranks 81st out of 365 Division I schools in the NACDA Directors’ Cup standings at the end of the winter sport season.
The Wildcats have amassed 162 points, including the 25 points they tallied during the fall season. The ski team, which stands 11th overall, provided 57 points, while the third-ranked women’s hockey team supplied 55 points and the ninth-ranked men’s hockey team kicked in another 25.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.— Gail Goodspeed, the 29th-year head women’s gymnastics coach at the University of New Hampshire, and associate head coach Ed Datti, were both recognized with coach of the year honors at the annual NCAA Northeast Regional banquet which took place this past weekend at Penn State.
Goodspeed, who was named Head Coach of the Year, has earned the honor six times in her career, also earning the award in 2005, 2003, 2001, 1994 and 1991.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Sophomore gymnasts Helena Diodati (Scarborough , Maine ) and Taryn LaFountain (Utica , N.Y. ) both made the most of their opportunities to compete individually at this year’s NCAA Northeast Regional held on the campus of Penn State University
LaFountain did the Wildcats proud, placing fifth on balance beam with an impressive score of 9.875, tying her season-high for 2008.

DURHAM, N.H.— Sophomore gymnasts Helena Diodati (Scarborough, Maine) and Taryn LaFountain (Utica, N.Y.) will be representing the University of New Hampshire as individual competitors at the NCAA Northeast Regionals, which will take place on April 12 at Penn State beginning at 6 p.m.
Diodati was the only individual gymnast from the region invited to compete on vault, as well as on bars, while LaFountain was selected to compete on balance beam.
Both gymnasts were recently named first-team All-EAGL (East Atlantic Gymnastics League) in their respective events. Diodati, who placed third in vault at the EAGL Championships, checked in with qualifying scores of 9.855 in vault and posted a mark of 9.81 on bars as well. LaFountain posted a 9.815 qualifying score on beam.
