DURHAM, N.H.  – The University of New Hampshire has announced that Michael Daly (UNH ’90) has been promoted to the position of women’s lacrosse associate head coach. He had previously served as an assistant coach with the Wildcat program.
     Daly worked specifically with New Hampshire’s offensive unit last year and his game-plan strategies helped improve the Wildcats’ goal output by nearly two goals per game – 9.71 gpg in 2007 to 11.68 in 2008. Also by way of comparison, the top goal scorer in ‘07 totaled 29 tallies, whereas three players scored 30-plus goals in ’08.

BALTIMORE, Md. – The University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team was named one of 50 programs in Division I to earn Academic Squad honors from the Intercollegaite Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association, the IWLCA announced Monday. Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass.) and Sarah Von Bargen (East Setauket, N.Y.), both juniors on the 2008 Wildcat squad, were among the 159 student-athletes named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.
      Teams with a collective grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher earned the distinction of Academic Squad. UNH was one of five America East conference schools to receive the honor. The honored student-athletes must have achieved at least junior year status and compiled a minimum GPA of 3.20.
      New Hampshire advanced to the 2008 NCAA tournament and finished with 13 wins (second-highest win total in the program’s 32-year history). The Wildcats peaked at No. 13 in the national rankings, the highest since 1992.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire has been selected as the recipient of the 2008 America East Women’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete award, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
      Hardy, the second UNH women’s lacrosse player bestowed this honor, is one of three New Hampshire student-athletes to receive an America East Scholar-Athlete award in the 2007-08 academic year; every Scholar-Athlete is eligible for the 2008 America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, which will be announced on Aug. 14. One male winner and one female winner will be chosen by the same committee that selected the individual sports Scholar-Athletes.

BALTIMORE, Md. – Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass.), a junior midfielder on the 13th-ranked University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team, was named to the IWLCA/U.S. Lacrosse All-America Third Team on Wednesday evening. She was under consideration for this honor following last week’s selection to the Northeast Region First Team.
     Hardy is the 35th UNH Wildcat to receive All-America recognition in the 32-year history of the program and the fifth to do so in the 12-year tenure of head coach Sandy Bridgeman. Other recent selections were Cristina Covucci (2005; Third Team), current assistant coach Jess Burnap (2004; Second Team), Jessie Groszkowski (2002; First Team) and Colleen Christopher (2001; Second Team).

DURHAM, N.H.  – Sandy Bridgeman, 12th-year head coach of the University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team, was one of four UNH Wildcats honored by Womenslacrosse.com on Wednesday as she was bestowed the Coach of the Year award.
      Ashley Milley (Sudbury, Mass.) was the recipient of the Unsung Hero of the Year award while Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass.) was named to the All-America Second Team and Allie Duclos (South Windsor, Conn.) received All-Rookie Team distinction.

BALTIMORE, Md. – Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass.), Allie Duclos (South Windsor, Conn.), Ashley Milley (Sudbury, Mass.) and Sarah Von Bargen (East Setauket, N.Y.) of the 13th-ranked University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team were named to the Northeast All-Regional Team as announced Thursday by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Hardy received First Team recognition while Duclos, Milley and Von Bargen were Second Team honorees.
      The four UNH Wildcats, all of whom were America East All-Conference First Team selections in 2008, are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/U.S. Lacrosse All-America teams that will be announced May 29. The IWLCA and U.S. Lacrosse will honor those All-Americans at a June 14 awards banquet in Downingtown, Pa.

      Some of the awards presented included the Coaches' Award to Ashley Crook (South Burlington, Vt.), the Offensive MVP to Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass.), the Defensive MVP to Ashley Milley (Sudbury, Mass.) and the Rookie of the Year to Allie Duclos (South Windsor, Conn.).
