CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire has been selected as the recipient of the 2008 America East Women’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete award, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Hardy, the second UNH women’s lacrosse player bestowed this honor, is one of three New Hampshire student-athletes to receive an America East Scholar-Athlete award in the 2007-08 academic year; every Scholar-Athlete is eligible for the 2008 America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, which will be announced on Aug. 14. One male winner and one female winner will be chosen by the same committee that selected the individual sports Scholar-Athletes.

UNH HONOR ROLL
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A total of 201 University of New Hampshire student-athletes were named to the 2008 America East Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll for recording a grade point average of 3.0 or above in that winter/spring semester, the league announced Thursday. Of the 201 honored, 113 of those were also named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for possessing a gpa of at least 3.5, the most of any of the other institution.
In the nine-member America East conference, only Binghamton University (251 honorees) had a higher number of student-athletes recognized. The University at Albany (198), the University of Vermont (197) and Stony Brook University (188) rounded out the top five.

BALTIMORE, Md. – Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass.), a junior midfielder on the 13th-ranked University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team, was named to the IWLCA/U.S. Lacrosse All-America Third Team on Wednesday evening. She was under consideration for this honor following last week’s selection to the Northeast Region First Team.
Hardy is the 35th UNH Wildcat to receive All-America recognition in the 32-year history of the program and the fifth to do so in the 12-year tenure of head coach Sandy Bridgeman. Other recent selections were Cristina Covucci (2005; Third Team), current assistant coach Jess Burnap (2004; Second Team), Jessie Groszkowski (2002; First Team) and Colleen Christopher (2001; Second Team).

DURHAM, N.H. – Sandy Bridgeman, 12th-year head coach of the University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team, was one of four UNH Wildcats honored by Womenslacrosse.com on Wednesday as she was bestowed the Coach of the Year award.
Ashley Milley (Sudbury, Mass.) was the recipient of the Unsung Hero of the Year award while Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass.) was named to the All-America Second Team and Allie Duclos (South Windsor, Conn.) received All-Rookie Team distinction.

BALTIMORE, Md. – Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass.), Allie Duclos (South Windsor, Conn.), Ashley Milley (Sudbury, Mass.) and Sarah Von Bargen (East Setauket, N.Y.) of the 13th-ranked University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team were named to the Northeast All-Regional Team as announced Thursday by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Hardy received First Team recognition while Duclos, Milley and Von Bargen were Second Team honorees.
The four UNH Wildcats, all of whom were America East All-Conference First Team selections in 2008, are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/U.S. Lacrosse All-America teams that will be announced May 29. The IWLCA and U.S. Lacrosse will honor those All-Americans at a June 14 awards banquet in Downingtown, Pa.

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse program held its annual banquet Friday night at Three Chimneys Inn to commemorate the accomplishments of its 2008 student-athletes and a Wildcat team that advanced to the NCAA tournament and finished the season with 13 wins, the second-highest total in the program’s 32-year history.
Some of the awards presented included the Coaches' Award to Ashley Crook (South Burlington, Vt.), the Offensive MVP to Michaela Hardy (Reading, Mass.), the Defensive MVP to Ashley Milley (Sudbury, Mass.) and the Rookie of the Year to Allie Duclos (South Windsor, Conn.).

BOSTON — Sarah Von Bargen (East Setauket, N.Y.) recorded three points for the 13th-ranked University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team, but seventh-ranked Boston University utilized a three-goal spurt to break an 8-8 tie en route to Sunday afternoon’s 16-8 victory in an NCAA first-round game at Nickerson Field.
UNH, which received an at-large bid to make its seventh NCAA tournament appearance, ends the season at 13-6. The Wildcats were led offensively by Von Bargen (two goals, assist), Ashley Crook (South Burlington, Vt.; two goals) and Maureen Wark (Yarmouth, Maine; two goals). Ashley Milley (Sudbury, Mass.) was credited with four saves. Crook was also credited with one ground ball, two draw controls and one caused turnover.

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire Athletic Department will purchase tickets for UNH students to attend the 2008 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship first round game at Boston University's Nickerson Field on Sunday, May 11 (12:00 p.m.). Students will be required to present a valid UNH ID at BU on game day in order to receive their free ticket.

DURHAM, N.H. — The 13th-ranked University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team takes a 13-5 overall record into the 27th Annual NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship tournament. The Wildcats, who received one of the eight at-large bids for the tourney, travel to play seventh-seeded (and seventh-ranked) Boston University (17-2) for a May 11 first round game at BU’s Nickerson Field. The game, which will be videostreamed online at
www.americaeast.com, begins as 12 p.m. In conjunction with Pack Network LLC, America East will provide the broadcast free of charge.
New Hampshire is making its seventh overall NCAA tourney appearance –first since 2004, when the Wildcats gained an automatic berth as America East tournament champion. UNH’s other NCAA appearances were in 1991, 1987, 1986, 1985 and 1984; the ‘Cats won the NCAA title in 1985, and it is the school’s only NCAA national championship.

STANDINGS
WESTLAKE, Ohio – The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics recently announced that the University of New Hampshire ranks 81st out of 365 Division I schools in the NACDA Directors’ Cup standings at the end of the winter sport season.
The Wildcats have amassed 162 points, including the 25 points they tallied during the fall season. The ski team, which stands 11th overall, provided 57 points, while the third-ranked women’s hockey team supplied 55 points and the ninth-ranked men’s hockey team kicked in another 25.
