DURHAM, N.H. – Travis DeMar (Iowa ’05) has been hired as the University of New Hampshire athletic events coordinator in an announcement made Thursday by the UNH Athletic department.
"We're very excited to have Travis join our team here at UNH,” said Steve Metcalf, the University’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations. “He brings a wealth of experience from other institutions."
DeMar comes to UNH with extensive experience in events management, including most recently serving in the athletics operations office at Boston College for the 2008-09 season. His responsibilities there included: assisting with the event management of 12 varsity sports; assistance with the planning of the men’s basketball Preseason NIT and three NCAA championships; serving as the liaison and host to visiting teams, including coordination of practices; the hiring, scheduling and management of student workers; and contact to officials for Olympic sports.
DeMar previously worked as an Event Management Assistant at Iowa from June 2006 through July 2008. During that time, he assisted with NCAA and Big Ten championships, worked with 24 varsity sports, coordinated game-day activities and corresponded with visiting teams and officials.
DeMar earned a B.A. in Political Science and went on to attain an M.A. in Sport Management from Iowa in 2008.
