UNH Athletics Offers a Variety of Summer Camps

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire athletic department has openings remaining in a number of summer camps involving a variety of sports. The summer camp season begins the last week of June and continues into early August.

 

Men’s basketball will hold a King of the Coast Team Camp (July 14-15) that features a pool play/tournament format with each team guaranteed a minimum of five games. The men’s hoop program also has a Day Camp (July 30–Aug. 2) that offers a morning session (9 am-12 pm) for boys and girls entering grades 2-5 in Fall 2012 and a full day session (9 am-3 pm) for girls and boys entering grades 6-9.

 

Women’s basketball has three camps in the last week of June. There will be a Day Camp (June 25-28) that is a full-day session (9 am-4 pm) for girls entering grades 2-9 this fall. There is also a Shooting Camp (June 26 & 28) from 5-7 pm for girls entering grades 6-12. The third option is an Elite Camp (June 29–July 1) that is open to girls entering grades 9-12.

 

Field hockey has openings in two of its three camps. Session 1 (July 6-9) has both an overnight and a commuter option, and is open to players of all ages and ability. There is also an “Inside the 25” Session (July 14-15) that focuses on specialized goalkeeping skills; it also offers the overnight or commuter option for campers.

 

Football will hold an Evening Camp (July 15-19) for boys entering grades 6-12. It is a full-contact camp offering specialized and technical instruction to athletes of every age group regardless of skill or position.

 

Gymnastics is currently full in both its Day Camp (June 25-29) and Overnight Camp (July 8-12).

 

Men’s ice hockey will hold its Dick Umile School day camp from July 30–Aug. 3. It is open to boys ranging from 7-15 years of age and includes both on-ice training and off-ice activities.

 

Women’s ice hockey will hold an Overnight Camp (July 22-26) for girls ranging from 8-18 years of age; the groups are divided into U-14 (8-13) and U-18 (14-18). There is an optional commuter package available as well.

 

Women’s lacrosse has two summer camps available concurrently from June 25-28. There will be a “Top Cat” Elite Overnight Camp (June 27-30) for girls entering grades 7-12, with a commuter option; there are two divisions – Elite and Top Cat. There is also a “Climbing Cat” Day Camp from 8:30 am-12 pm for girls entering grades 1-6 who are less experienced or beginners.

 

Men’s soccer will hold a Nike Dimensions Residential Camp (July 29–Aug. 2) for boys of all ages and abilities. This includes a junior/senior select group that is a college preseason preparatory group specifically designed for elite high school-aged players.

 

Women’s soccer offers an Overnight Camp (July 22-26) that is currently full.

 

Women’s swimming & diving has the Nike Swim Camp (Aug. 5-8), which is open to boys and girls aged 11-18. This camp is designed to help swimmers improve stroke technique so they can compete at the next level.

 

Track & field will hold a Middle Distance, Distance & Cross Country Running Camp (July 22-25) as well as a Track & Field Day Camp (July 29-August 2). Both camps are open to athletes entering grades 7-12 and run daily from 4-7 p.m.

 

Volleyball offers three camps, but both the Overnight Camp and Elite Overnight Camp are currently full. There are still openings for the Team Camp (August 3-5), which is also an overnight camp; there is a 10-player minimum and 15-player maximum for teams.
