NEW SCOREBOARD INSTALLED AT MEMORIAL FIELD
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New
Hampshire athletic department recently completed the fund raising
effort and subsequent installation of a new Daktronics SO-2008
scoreboard at Memorial Field, which is the home facility for
UNH’s field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams.
All monetary donations – the project totaled $13,000,
including installation – were received through fund raising
efforts by the Wildcat Athletics Council from field hockey and
women’s lacrosse alumni. A total of 10 individuals and two
families made a contribution to facilitate this upgrade to Memorial
Field.
The fund raising spanned from the summer to the fall of 2009, and
the scoreboard was installed at the previous scoreboard’s
location in December.
The previously existing scoreboard at Memorial Field was outdated
and failing, which created the need for a more reliable, accurate
and easier to read model – with a functioning horn –
that will benefit student-athletes and fans for years to come.
The Daktronics SO-2008, which is 5-feet, 6 inches wide, 16 feet
high and weighs 240 pounds, displays home and guest scores, shots,
period and a clock (to four digits; when under one minute, will
display tenths-of-a-second) utilizing PanaView LED.
The digits, which can be dimmed for night viewing, are 18” in
height. The “UNH” and “GUEST” captions are
10” and the remaining captions are 8”. All captions are
white vinyl applied directly to the scoreboard face.
The scoreboard casing is made with alcoa aluminum alloy 5052 for
excellent corrosion resistance.
The system includes an All Sport 5000 wireless controller, also
made of aluminum, with a 32-character keyboard that has a sealed
membrane to make the console far more water resistant.
