Gymnastics Announces 2013-14 Schedule

DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire gymnastics 34th-year head coach Gail Goodspeed announced Saturday the Wildcats' 2013-14 schedule, which is highlighted by UNH playing host to the 2014 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship on March 22 at the Whittemore Center.

The last time New Hampshire hosted the EAGL Championship at the Whittemore Center was 2003, the year the Wildcats won their lone league title. Lundholm Gymnsium served as the championship site in 2010.

"Our program is proud to serve as the host school for the 2014 EAGL Championship," Goodspeed said. "Our gymnasts are excited to compete in front of a large crowd of UNH supporters at the Whittemore Center, and we look forward to showcasing our University for the league's most important event of the season."

Fans will get their first chance to see the Wildcats at the annual Meet the Team exhibition Saturday, Dec. 7 (1 p.m.) at Lundholm Gym.

The regular season gets underway with an EAGL dual meet at Rutgers on Saturday, Jan. 11 (1 p.m.) before the 'Cats open the home portion of their schedule with a quad-meet Sunday, Jan. 19, against Brown, Yale and Minnesota, last season's No. 8 program that reached the 2013 NCAA Gymnastics Championship in Los Angeles.

Other notable home meets this season include defending EAGL runner-up Maryland visiting for a dual-meet Saturday, Feb. 1 (1 p.m.), and a pair of 2013 NCAA Regional qualifiers – No. 15 Penn State and five-time defending USGA Collegiate National Champion Bridgeport – invading Durham along with George Washington to challenge UNH in a quad-meet Saturday, March 8 (4 p.m.).

"In keeping with tradition, it's another very challenging schedule we face this season," Goodspeed said. "Our fans will get the opportunity to see terrific national programs with Minnesota, Maryland and Penn State all coming to Lundholm Gym. Add in the week-to-week competition in our league, and we know we'll have to be ready to go each and every meet."
