BALTIMORE – Kelsey Aucoin (Double Oak, Texas) of the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team was named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. This marks Aucoin's second award of the season and the fourth in a row for the Wildcats.
Aucoin, who was previously tabbed EAGL Rookie of the Week on Jan. 28, was honored following UNH's 195.400-188.700 victory at Yale on Feb. 8. The native of Double Oak, Texas, shared the top score on vault with a personal-best 9.850, tallied third place on balance beam (9.775) and shared second place with a career-high-tying 9.800. On the season, Aucoin leads the Wildcats and is ranked 10th in EAGL on vault (9.800 average).
UNH's Meghan Pflieger (Barneveld, N.Y.) won the EAGL Rookie of the Week award Jan. 21 (shared with George Washington's Chelsea Raineri) and Feb. 4.
The Wildcats hold their annual Stick it For The Cure meet Saturday, Feb. 15 (4 p.m.) against Centenary and Brown. The 2014 EAGL Championship is coming to the Whittemore Center on Saturday, March 22. Tickets for the 2 p.m. meet are on sale now at www.ticketmaster.com. UNH will challenge George Washington, Maryland, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Towson. The Wildcats won the EAGL title the last time the Whitt played host to the league championship in 2003.
