BALTIMORE – For the second straight week and third time this season, University of New Hampshire redshirt freshman Kelsey Aucoin (Double Oak, Texas) is the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Rookie of the Week. Tuesday's announcement represents the third honor for Aucoin and the fifth straight week a Wildcat has garnered the award.
Aucoin, who was previously tabbed EAGL Rookie of the Week on Jan. 28 and Feb. 11, was feted following UNH's season-high 195.575 performance in a tri-meet victory over Brown and Centenary at Lundholm Gym on Feb. 15. The native of Double Oak, Texas, shared third place on vault with a 9.775, claimed third on balance beam with a 9.775 and notched the top mark on floor exercise with a 9.850.
Aucoin has a Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 9.785 on vault, which matches teammate and two-time Rookie of the Week Meghan Pflieger (Barneveld, N.Y.) for 10th in EAGL. Aucoin is tied for 16th in EAGL on beam (9.645 RQS).
The Wildcats begin a two-meet road trip with a tri-meet at Towson against the Tigers and William & Mary on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. UNH also has a tri-meet at George Washington that also includes Maryland on Monday, March 3, at 7 p.m. before returning to Lundholm Gym for a quad-meet against No. 20 Penn State, George Washington and Bridgeport on Saturday, March 8, at 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.unhwildcats.com or call (603) 862-4000, extension 5.
