Aucoin Leads Gymnastics To Tri-Meet Win At Towson

TOWSON, Md. – Kelsey Aucoin (Double Oak, Texas) earned a share of first place on vault and floor exercise and the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team extended its winning streak to six by defeating William & Mary and Towson at SECU Arena on Saturday night.

UNH totaled a 194.125 to improve to 8-3 on the season and 2-2 in East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) competition. William & Mary (3-8) finished in second place with a 192.300, and Towson posted a 190.275 to slip to 5-12, 1-6 EAGL. 

The Wildcats got out of the gates slowly on balance beam, their lowest-scoring event (47.600) of the meet. Kayla Gray (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored a 9.700 to tie for second place with Katie Durst and Brandy Stover of W&M and Lauren Ross of Towson. Brittany Stover of the Tribe won beam with a 9.775.

UNH ramped up on floor exercise with its highest score (48.975) of the meet. Aucoin equaled her personal best with a 9.850 to share first place with the College's Jessica Pritchard. Hannah Barile (Sinking Spring, Pa.) scored a 9.825 to match a career best and tie for third place with Towson's Alexa Davis. Jannelle Minichiello (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Erika Rudiger (Slidell, La.) tallied matching marks of 9.775 to share sixth place. 

Aucoin made it back-to-back first-place scores by sticking her vault for a 9.800, which tied with Barile and Brittany Stover. Adrienne Hill (Midlothian, Va.) finished in fifth place with a 9.750, and Meghan Pflieger (Barneveld, N.Y.) amassed a 9.725 for sixth place as part of the Wildcats' team total of 48.700.

The 'Cats closed the meet on bars, where they boasted four gymnasts in the top four. Pflieger took first place with a career-high 9.825, which was followed by Rudiger's 9.800 for second place. Jen King (Freehold, N.J.) set a personal best with a 9.750 to share fourth place with Barile and Brittany Stover, who won all-around with a 39.025. Pflieger took third place in AA with a 38.550. 

UNH ventures to George Washington University for an EAGL tri-meet that also includes Maryland on Monday, March 3, at 7 p.m.
