Brown and Donahue Named UNH Men’s Basketball Captains

DURHAM, N.H. — Head coach Phil Rowe and the University of New Hampshire men’s basketball team have named senior Colin Donahue (Des Moines, Iowa) and junior Chris Brown (Boston, Mass.) as team-captains for the Wildcats’ 2000-01 season.

A tenacious defender, Donahue was one of the few bright spots last season for the ‘Cats. A 6-2 guard who seems tireless on the court, Donahue started 26 games and averaged 7.6 ppg. in coach Rowe’s first season. From his shooting guard position Donahue also dished out 72 assists and pulled down 4.4 rpg.

Brown, who plays bigger than his actual size of 6-4, 210 may indicate, led UNH in rebounds with 8.2 rpg, good for third in America East. In addition to his prolific rebounding, Brown was second on the team in scoring with 10.7 ppg. and led the team in steals with 49.

"Both Chris and Colin provide leadership through their incredible work ethic on and off the court," said Rowe. "Each is committed to making this a winning program."

The UNH men and women’s basketball media day will be held at the Skybox Lounge at the Whittemore Center on Tuesday, October 31 at 12 p.m. Brown and Donahue will be among those available for photos and interviews.
