MEN'S HOCKEY ENTERS 2007-08 RANKED NO. 6 NATIONALLY
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of New Hampshire men’s ice hockey team earned 346 points to rank sixth in the inaugural USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll of the 2007-08 season, which was released Monday. The Wildcats, who finished last season ranked ninth nationally, received one first-place vote.

UNH, which advanced to the NCAA regionals in each of the last six seasons, placed second among Hockey East schools behind Boston College (3rd- 416 points). University of North Dakota topped the preseason poll garnering 467 points and 14 first-place votes. UNH will play the top-ranked Fighting Sioux on Dec. 28 and 29 in Grand Folks, N.D.

Last week, UNH was selected tied for first with BC in the Men’s Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll.

New Hampshire opens the 2007-08 season on Friday, Oct. 12 in an exhibition game against New Brunswick. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Whittemore Center; home games will also be video- streamed online at UNHwildcats.tv.
