NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine – University of New Hampshire Nordic skiers Liz Guiney (Park City, Utah), Erik Lindgren (Pitea, Sweden) and Sam Reed (Keene, N.H.) have each been nominated to the New England Nordic Ski Association Elite and Development Team.

Skiing Team Presents 2012 Team Awards
DURHAM, N.H. – The UNH skiing team recently held its annual postseason banquet, recognizing its top performers from the 2012 season. Team most valuable players were Liz Guiney (Park City, Utah; women’s Nordic), Marie-Elaine Lepine (Mont-Tremblant, Quebec; women’s alpine), Erik Lindgren (Pitea, Sweden; men’s Nordic) and Taylor Vest-Burton (Breckenridge, Colo.; men’s alpine).

Freshmen Reed and Taylor compete in USSA Cross Country Junior Ski Championships
MIDWAY, Utah – University of New Hampshire freshman Nordic skiers Sam Reed (Keene, N.H.) and Annika Taylor (Truckee, Calif.) recently competed in the 2012 Marriott Junior National Cross Country Championships at Soldier Hollow from March 3-10. Reed raced for the East team, while Taylor was a member of the West squad.

Ski Team Finishes 10th at NCAA Championships
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Zach Clayton (Manassas, Va.) skied to a team-best 14th-place finish in Saturday’s men’s slalom at Bridger Bowl to help the University of New Hampshire skiing team finish 10th overall on the final day of the 2012 NCAA Skiing Championships, hosted by Montana State University.

Wildcats in 11th Place through three days at NCAA Skiing Championships
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Elizabeth Izzo (Lake Placid, N.Y.) recorded the fastest time among University of New Hampshire Nordic skiers at Bohart Ranch Cross Country Ski Center on Friday as the Wildcats moved into 11th place overall with one day of alpine racing remaining at the 2012 NCAA Skiing Championships, hosted by Montana State University.

Ski Team Charges to 10th place at NCAA Ski Championships
BOZEMAN, Mont. – The UNH women’s alpine team, led by Laura Rozinowicz (Toronto, Ontario), claimed sixth place in the giant slalom and the men’s squad finished seventh in the GS at Bridger Bowl on Thursday as the Wildcats climbed six spots to 10th place overall at the midway point of the 2012 NCAA Skiing Championships.

Twelve Wildcats Named to National Ski Coaches Association All-Academic Team
BOZEMAN, Mont.– Twelve members of the UNH skiing team were named to the 2012 National Ski Coaches Association All-Academic Team. The team, announced Tuesday night at the NCAA Skiing Championships awards banquet, features individuals who earned a grade point average of 3.5 or above during the Fall 2011 semester and competed at the EISA Championships.

Ski Team in 16th place following first day of NCAA Championships
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Liz Guiney (Park City, Utah) headlined a quartet of UNH Nordic skiers who competed on Wednesday's opening day of the four-day 2012 NCAA Skiing Championships, hosted by Montana State University. Guiney’s 30th-place finish in the 5K freestyle helped the Wildcats finish the day in 16th place.

Ski Team Sends 10 Members to NCAA Championships from March 7-10 in Bozeman, Mont.
INDIANAPOLIS – Ten University of New Hampshire skiers have been selected to participate in the 2012 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Skiing Championships, which are being hosted by Montana State University from March 7-10 with alpine events running at Bridger Bowl and Nordic events taking place at Bohart Ranch.

DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire men’s alpine team captain Paul Atkinson (Toronto, Ontario), women’s alpine team captain Marie-Elaine Lepine (Mont-Tremblant, Quebec) and women’s Nordic team co-captain Liz Guiney (Park City, Utah) were each tabbed Monday to the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association All-East Second Team.

MIDDLEBURY & STOWE, Vt. – UNH women’s Nordic skier Liz Guiney (Park City, Utah) notched a season-best fifth-place finish in Saturday’s women’s 15K classic, and alpine skier Jenna Kantor (East Burke, Vt.) secured a career-best third-place result in giant slalom to lead the Wildcats to a third-place tie at the EISA Championship, hosted by Middlebury College.

HANCOCK, Mass. – Taylor Vest-Burton (Breckenridge, Colo.) registered a season-best eighth-place finish in the men’s slalom to guide the University of New Hampshire men’s alpine team to second place in that race and the Wildcats’ skiing team to seventh overall during Friday’s opening day of action at the Williams Winter Carnival.

LYME CENTER, N.H. & STOWE, Vt. – Brothers Erik and Per Lindgren (Pitea, Sweden) finished sixth and eighth, respectively, in the men’s 20K classic for the UNH men’s Nordic skiers, and the Wildcats’ ski team finished third overall at the Dartmouth Winter Carnival on Saturday.

LYME CENTER, N.H. & STOWE, Vt. – Laura Rozinowicz (Toronto, Ontario) stormed to a fourth-place finish in women’s giant slalom at Dartmouth Skiway to lead the University of New Hampshire skiing team to a runner-up finish in that race and fourth place overall following Friday’s opening day of EISA racing at the Dartmouth Winter Carnival.

Men's SL Win Helps Ski Team Maintain 2nd Place at UVM Carnival
STOWE, Vt. – Paul Atkinson (Toronto, Ontario) captured third place to lead a men’s team victory on slalom, and the University of New Hampshire skiing team strengthened its hold on second place on day two of the three-day Vermont Winter Carnival on Saturday. The Wildcats’ 558.5 overall points trail Dartmouth’s 675 points.

Coffey, Kantor Lead Ski Team to 2nd Place on opening day of UVM Carnival
STOWE, Vt. – Sam Coffey (Snowmass, Colo.) raced to a career-high, third-place finish in the men’s giant slalom race and Jenna Kantor (East Burke, Vt.) bolted to a personal-best fourth place in women’s GS at Mount Mansfield as the UNH skiing team grabbed second place on the opening day of the Vermont Winter Carnival on Friday.

JACKSON, N.H. – University of New Hampshire men’s alpine skiers Zach Clayton (Manassas, Va.) and Sam Coffey (Snowmass, Colo.) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in Saturday’s men’s slalom race at Attitash Bear Peak to lead the Wildcats to second place in that event and third place overall at the UNH Winter Carnival.

JACKSON, N.H. - The UNH ski team is tied for fourth place following the first day of competition at the UNH Winter Carnival. Liz Guiney (Park City, Utah) and Annika Taylor (Truckee, Calif.) finished 10th and 11th, respectively, in the women’s classic sprints Friday at Jackson XC to propel the women’s Nordic team to third place in that race.

Ski Team Opens EISA Season This Weekend at Bates Carnival
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire alpine and Nordic ski teams begin the 2012 Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association season this weekend at the Bates Winter Carnival (Jan. 20-21). The Wildcats have notched three straight Top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships, including eighth place last season, which was their top placement in 11 years.

Guiney Headlines Nordic Skiers Competing at U.S. Cross-Country Championships
RUMFORD, Maine – Junior co-captain Liz Guiney (Park City, Utah) led a select group of University of New Hampshire Nordic skiers that competed in the 2012 U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships at the Chisholm Ski Club on Black Mountain from Jan. 3-6. Guiney was the Wildcats’ top representative in the women’s 1.4K freestyle sprint and the 20K classical mass start.

Ski Team Announces 2011-12 Alpine & Nordic Captains
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire ski program announced its captains for the 2011-12 season Wednesday. Paul Atkinson (Toronto, Ontario) and Marie-Elaine Lepine (Mont-Tremblant, Quebec) will captain the alpine team, while Tom Reagan (Freeport, Maine), Erik Lindgren (Pitea, Sweden), Danielle Baron (Gilford, N.H.) and Liz Guiney (Park City, Utah) will serve as co-captains for the Nordic team.

Ski Program announces Nordic Ski Team Scholarship Fund & honors WWII veteran Nelson Bennett
DURHAM, N.H. – UNH ski program coordinator/Nordic head coach Cory Schwartz (‘82) recently announced the establishment of the UNH Nordic Ski Team Scholarship Fund by Peter Chudy, II (’87) and paid tribute to Nelson Bennett (’40) for his contributions to the ski program and to his country during World War II.

Skiing Holding 10th Annual Ski Sale on Sunday, Oct. 23
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire ski program will hold its 10th Annual Ski Sale at the UNH Field House on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Skis, boards, skates and apparel, both new and used, will be for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit to the UNH Ski Program. There will also be a free raffle for New Hampshire ski area passes.
