DURHAM, N.H. - Doug Lawver (Doylestown, Pa.), a sophomore midfielder on the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team, is ranked sixth among NCAA Division I players in assists through games on September 24. Lawver has recorded six assists through the Wildcats first seven games.
Lawver, who serves as team captain, started the year off by being named to the All-Tournament team at the Nike Fall Soccer Classic hosted by UNH. In that tournament, Lawver registered three assists in a 5-1 win over St. Bonaventure, setting the tournament record for assists in a game. Lawver was also named to the All-Tournament team at the Smith Barney Classic hosted by Vermont.
As a freshman last year, Lawver registered seven points (2 goals, 3 assists) to lead all first-year players on the team in scoring. This year, he has already recorded eight points, netting a goal in addition to his six assists, tying him for the team lead in scoring.
The Wildcats return to action this Saturday when they host the University of Maine in the 2000 America East season-opener. Game time at Lewis Field is 2 p.m.
