BOSTON -- Senior Brian Levey (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny), of the University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team, was named America East Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight season,

while freshman Chris Banks (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) was named America East Striker of the Year and America East Rookie of the Year, it was announced Thursday afternoon.
    The UNH coaching staff, led by head coach Rob Thompson in his 12th season, also was named America East Coaching Staff of the Year.  The award also recognizes assistant coach Marc Hubbard and goalkeeper coach Dave Williams for their contributions.
    Levey and Banks were also named First Team All-Conference.  Levey was named for the second straight season.  Banks was also named to the conference’s All-Rookie Team Junior defensive back John Bergqvist (Hollviken, Sweden) was named Second Team All-Conference for the second time.  Bergqvist was named to the All-Rookie Team last season.
    This season, Levey has started all 18 games, posting an 11-4-3 record with nine shutouts, a .866 save percentage and 0.58 goals against average.  He is also the Wildcats’ all-time leader in career shutouts with 26.
    Banks has played in all 18 games this season, leading the conference in goals (12) and points (24).  Banks also has three game-winning goals for the ‘Cats.
    Bergqvist has played in 13 games this season, recording two goals, one assist and five points, and contributing to the tough defense in front of Levey.
    The Wildcats (11-4-3, 5-2-1 America East), who are seeded third in the America East Tournament, will play host to sixth-seeded Stony Brook (6-11-1, 3-4-1 America East) in the opening round of the tournament on Saturday at 5 p.m. on Bremner Field.
