MEN'S INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD PLACES SECOND AT DARTMOUTH

The University of New Hampshire men’s indoor track and field team placed second overall with 112.5 points at the Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday.
The men’s team garnered three first place finishes on the afternoon.
    The Big Green of Dartmouth College won the meet with 183.5 points, while UNH placed second (112.5) and the University of Vermont followed with a third place finish (60).
    UNH weight thrower Jeff Kaste (Atkinson, N.H.) won his respective even with a throw of 17.07 meters. Kaste also placed fifth overall in the shot put (13.11 meters).
    In the distance events, UNH was led by junior Jordan Horowitz’s (Evanston, Ill) first place effort in the mile run (4:19.17), while teammate Robert Stiles (Southbury, Ct) recorded a victory in the 800 meters (1:59.45).
    UNH tallied a pair of second place finishes in the jumping events as freshmen Tyrone Stewart (Exeter, N.H.) posted a long jump of 6.35 meters and Anders Nordquist (Wolfeboro, N.H.) high jumped 1.80 meters. Stewart also delivered a third place effort in the triple jump with a mark of 12.16 meters.
    The Wildcats return home on Saturday (Jan. 20) to host Massachusetts and Holy Cross at 11 a.m. on UNH’s Paul Sweet Oval.
