MEN'S INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD DEFEATS MAINE, 92-81

DURHAM, N.H. –
The University of New Hampshire men’s indoor track and field team delievered ten first place finishes en route to defeating the University of Maine, 92-81, on Saturday at Paul Sweet Oval.
    Leading the way for the Wildcats in the middle distance events was junior Travis Parker (Fairfax, Va,) who posted a first place in the 400 meters (50.71) and teammate Ben Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.) posted a win in the 500 meters (1:08.51). Senior Matthew Croteau (Bedford, N.H.) cruised to a first place in the 800 meters (1:57.08).
    In the long distance events, junior Jordan Horowitz (Evanston, Ill) won the 3000 meters (8:38.28) and senior David Nayes (Eden Priaire, Minn.) recorded a win in the 1000 meters (2:35.44).
    In the field events, sophomore Spencer Shaw (Hampton, N.H.) recorded a win in the long jump (6.63 meters) and Matt Begley (Brookeville, Md.) tallied a first in the pole vault (4.40 meters).
    New Hampshire dominated the throwing events on the afternoon as sophomore Jeff Kaste (Atkinson, N.H.) won the weight throw (17.48 meters) and junior Jason Martin (Manchester, N.H.) won the shot put (14.18 meters).
    UNH returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 13) when they travel to Dartmouth College.
