– Senior Robert Edgerton (Cornish, N.H.) placed first in the 3000 meter run, to lead a successful day for the University of New Hampshire men’s indoor track and field team at the season-opening Husky Winter Carnival on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Edgerton finished the event in a time of eight minutes, 32.45 seconds.

Freshman Gabreal Dano and sophomore William Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) had solid outings for the ‘Cats. Dano (22.55) and Brehm (22.69) finished second and fourth, respectively in the 200 meter dash, while Dano was seventh (6.60) in the 55 meter dash and Brehm was sixth (50.69) in the 400 meter dash.

Senior Reed Liset (Dover, N.H.) placed fourth in the weight throw, racking up a distance of 53 feet, 5 ½ inches.

Junior David Dreyer (LeRoy, N.Y.) and senior Matthew Begley (Brookeville, Md.) finished seventh and ninth, respectively, in the pole vault when they scored distances of 14-5 ¼ and 13-11 ¼.

In the shot put, freshman Brice Paey (46-2 ½) placed seventh, while sophomore Joe Berchtold (Londonderry, N.H.) (45-1) was ninth.

Freshman Benjamin Casey placed eighth in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.07, while sophomore Anders Nordquist (Wolfeboro, N.H.) was eighth in the high jump with a leap of six feet.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Dec. 8 when they travel to Orono to take on the University of Maine at noon.
