201 STUDENT-ATHLETES RECEIVE AMERICA EAST ACADEMIC HONORS
UNH HONOR ROLL

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.
– A total of 201 University of New Hampshire student-athletes were named to the 2008 America East Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll for recording a grade point average of 3.0 or above in that winter/spring semester, the league announced Thursday. Of the 201 honored, 113 of those were also named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for possessing a gpa of at least 3.5, the most of any of the other institution.

In the nine-member America East conference, only Binghamton University (251 honorees) had a higher number of student-athletes recognized. The University at Albany (198), the University of Vermont (197) and Stony Brook University (188) rounded out the top five.

UNH also had the distinction of having 64 percent of its winter and spring student-athletes named to one of the honor rolls, also tops in the conference. In addition, the women’s indoor track and field squad featured the most honor roll recipients of any team in the conference with a total of 56.

UNH boasted 43 student-athletes from the women’s outdoor track and field team on the Academic Honor Roll, 32 from the men’s outdoor track and field team, 30 from the men’s indoor track and field team, 14 from the women’s lacrosse team, 11 from the women’s swimming and diving team, 10 from the women’s basketball team and five from the men’s basketball team.
