Men's Track Falls To Maine

Orono, Maine-- The University of New Hampshire men's track and field team finished second in a meet against the University of Maine, collecting 79 points while the Black Bears, who won the meet finished with 113 points.

The Wildcats were led by Tim Lyons (Wakefield, Mass.) who completed a hat trick of first place finishes. He won the shot put with a throw of 44 feet four inches, the javelin with a throw of 201'05.00" and his winning throw of 187'03.00" in the hammer throw led a UNH sweep as Andrew Thompson (Freedom, N.H.) (177'01.00") and Mike Puzzo (East Hampton, Conn.) (139'00.00") finished second and third respectively. Also in the javelin Ben Blakesley finished in second with a throw of 180'00.00". Joil Bergeron (Keene, N.H.) took home first place in the discus with a throw of 138'03.00", while his toss of 42'00.75" in the shot put placed him second behind Lyons. In the pole vault Greg Hillson (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Greg Pratt finished first in second respectively with heights of 13'06.00" and 13'00.00". Brian Nelson's time of 59.56 gave him a first place finish in the 400m hurdles.

The next track action for the Wildcats is April 22 when they travel to Northeastern to face the Huskies.
