– Freshman Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) won an event to lead the University of New Hampshire men’s outdoor track and field team at the Wildcat Invitational III at Reggie F. Atkins Track on April 26.
Paey was victorious in the shot put with a throw of 15.89 meters. Sophomore Joe Berchtold (Londonderry, N.H.) placed sixth at 13.55 meters.
Junior Ben Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.) ran to a second-place finish in the 800-meters in a time of one minute, 56.84 seconds. Fellow junior Cale Dubay (Caribou, Maine) ran fifth in 1:57.93.
Junior David Dreyer (LeRoy, N.Y.) also finished second when he cleared a height of 4.50 meters in the pole vault.
Patrick Casey (So. Yarmouth, Mass.) – another junior – placed third in the high jump with a height of 1.93 meters. It was the second highest mark in the event, but Casey needed more attempts than the runner-up to reach 1.93.
Sophomore Patrick Rush (Nashua, N.H.) ran to a third-place finish in the 5,000-meters, finishing in 15:52.37.
Freshman Alex Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was also third in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.40 seconds.
The Wildcats’ 4x400-meter relay team finished third in a time of 3:27.21.
Sophomore Chris Morgan (Goffstown, N.H.) placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 47.30 meters.
Freshman Wesley Cotnoir (Auburn, N.H.) was fifth in the 200-meters, finishing in 23.37 seconds.
Junior Spencer Shaw (Hampton, N.H.) had a pair of sixth-place finishes, completing the 100-meters in 11.87 seconds, and submitting a leap of 12.97 meters in the triple jump.
Freshman Mike Simon (Bethel, Conn.) finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 6.45 meters.
The Wildcats will return to action at the America East championships May 3-4 at the Beckett Track and Field Complex in Orono, Maine.
