CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The America East conference announced Tuesday that freshman Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.), of the University of New Hampshire men’s outdoor track and field team, was named America East Men’s Field Performer of the Week for the week ending April 28.
Paey won the shot put with a throw of 17.56 meters April 22 at a five-team meet at the College of the Holy Cross, breaking the 21-year-old school record set by Ed McCabe in 1987 – three years before Paey was even born. Paey was also victorious in the shot put with a throw of 15.89 meters April 26 at the Wildcat Invitational III.

Paey is having an outstanding freshman campaign, having already qualified for Junior Nationals, the NCAA East Regional and the ECAC championships. Paey currently ranks ninth in the East region and is the top freshman in the region. During the indoor season, Paey was runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 15.46 meters at the America East championships and was fourth at the New England championships with a toss of 15.94 meters.
Paey and the Wildcats will return to action at the America East championships May 3-4 at the Beckett Track and Field Complex in Orono, Maine.
