HANOVER, N.H. – Senior Reed Liset (Dover, N.H.) used three first-place finished to help lead the University of New Hampshire men’s outdoor track and field team to a third-place showing at the Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Track.

With 77 points, the Wildcats finished ahead of Vermont (61.50), Tufts (38) and Middlebury (25), but behind Dartmouth (301) and Rensselaer (82.50).

Liset was first in the shot put with a throw of 15.15 meters, while sophomore John Randall (Boscawen, N.H.) placed fifth at 13.62 meters. Liset was also first in the discus with a toss of 48.29 meters, and first in the hammer throw with a mark of 54.26 meters. Randall was also fifth in that event at 51.50 meters.

In the 400 meters, freshmen Sean Mitchell (Concord, Calif.) and Bill Godfrey (Merrimack, N.H.) finished second and third, respectively, in times of 50.04 and 50.07 seconds. Mitchell was also fifth in the 200 at 22.65 seconds.

Senior Marcus Boggis (Milford, N.H.) placed third in the 100 meters in 11.26 seconds.

Sophomore Alex Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass.) ran to a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 55.45 seconds. At 16.30 seconds, Macleod also finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles behind freshman Renrick Pesce (Bristol, Conn.) at 16.28 seconds.

In the 800 meters, sophomore Jake McDougle (Walpole, N.H.) and senior Cale Dubay (Caribou, Maine) finished fourth and seventh, respectively, in times of one minute, 52.80 seconds and 1:55.51.

Senior Brent Powers (Remsen, N.Y.) was seventh in the 1500 meters in 3:58.84.

Back in the field, junior Brett Clark (Merrimack, N.H) finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.88 meters. Classmate Cory Varrell (Portsmouth, N.H.) was fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.30 meters.

In the javelin, sophomore Matt Pelchat (Lancaster, N.H.) and senior Trevor Messineo (Concord, N.H.) placed fifth and seventh, respectively, with tosses of 51.47 and 48.07 meters.

The Wildcats return to action Tuesday, April 21 at 2 p.m. when they take on Holy Cross and Rhode Island at Hart Track in Worcester, Mass.
