Men's Cross Country Drops Season Opener to Providence

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Cory Sinotte (Manchester, N.H.) turned-in a fourth-place finish, but the University of New Hampshire men's cross country team fell to Providence College in the season opener Friday afternoon at the College Woods course.
Providence won the meet with 18 total points, while the Wildcats took second with 48 points.
Sinotte, who was the top finisher for the Wildcats at the 2011 NCAA Northeast Regional meet, completed the 6-kilometer course in a time of 19:07.5.
Sophomore Sam Gagnon (Hooksett, N.H.) was not far behind Sinotte as he finished sixth overall in a time of 19:15.
Senior David Gervais (Nashua, N.H.) placed 11th in a time of 19:32, while junior Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) and sophomore Jeff Moretti (Guilford, Conn.) took 13th and 14th, respectively, at 19:46.2 and 19:46.8.
The Wildcats return to action on Friday, Sept. 14 when they host the Pre-Conference Meet at the College Woods course at 2 p.m.
