Jim Boulanger enters his 31st season as coordinator of the men and women's cross country and track and field program. In his tenure at UNH the program has produced multiple New England champions, IC4A honorees and NCAA regional qualifiers as well as three All-Americans. On the men’s side, Boulanger has coached six America East Performer of the Meet award winners, four Scholar-Athletes and three individual cross country league champions since the 1997-98 season.
Boulanger is currently in the midst of one of the most prolific runs of success in UNH Athletics history. Over the last 51 America East Championships in cross country, indoor and outdoor track, the Wildcat mentor has guided his men's teams to 15 first-place finishes, 15 second places and eight thirds. He won America East "Coach of the Year" for outdoor track during the 1990,1996-1999 seasons along with winning the award for indoor track in 1995, 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2005. He guided the cross country squad to eight league championships from 1998-08, earning “Coach of the Year” honors a total of seven times during the 10-year span. Boulanger went on to capture outdoor “Coach of the Year” honors in 2006 and in back-to-back seasons during the 2008 and 2009 campaigns.
A 1975 graduate of UNH, Boulanger took over the program in 1982 after serving three years as an assistant.
