DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team honored several players at its annual awards banquet, held recently on campus.

Senior Heidi Plencner (Hampton, N.H.) received the team's Most Outstanding Player Award. Plencner, a 5-8 shooting guard for the 'Cats last season, was third on the team in scoring (11.2 ppg) and led the squad in three-point field goals (58-178, .326), free throw percentage (.816) assists (93) and steals (73) and was also named to the America East Third Team. Plencner leaves UNH as the school's all-time three-point field goal leader with 179 career treys, and 10th all-time scorer with exactly 1,000 career points.

Classmate and co-captain Kiki Proctor (Harrisburg, Pa.) received the Coaches' Award. Proctor, a 5-5 point guard, was the team's top defensive player and ranked third on the team in assists (83) and second in steals (41) despite coming off the Wildcat bench.

Sophomore forward Sarah Rappoport (Herndon, Va.) was voted the team's Most Improved Player.

The club also named its captains for the 2002-2003 season. Returning as co-captains are senior point guard Colleen Mullen (Chelmsford, Mass.) and senior forward Aubrey Danen (Oconomowoc, Wis.). Junior guard Emily Caschera (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) was also named a co-captain for next season.

Besides Plencner and Proctor, UNH also honored its other graduating senior, Anna Matthias (Guilford, Conn.). Matthias, a 6-3 center, was an America East Third Team selection in 2001 when she averaged 12.4 ppg and 6.3 rpg, both team highs, and currently ranks seventh on UNH's all-time blocks list with 50 career swats.

The Wildcats finished 16-13 (9-7 America East) this past season, advancing to the America East semifinals for the first time since the 1996-97 season.
