DURHAM, N.H. – Kristin Cole, head coach of the University of New Hampshire women’s basketball team, has announced the hiring of Mountain MacGillivray as assistant coach, rounding out her coaching staff for the 2007-08 season.

“Mountain’s exceptional work ethic, experience and passion for the game will make an immediate impact on our program,” Coach Cole said. “He has a great knowledge for the game. I consider him a steal and we are fortunate to have him on our staff.

MacGillivray played college baseball at Temple University and graduated in 1996. Since 1995, MacGillivray has coached along side Barry Kirsch at Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor, Pa. He took a year off of high school coaching, serving as assistant coach to the 2000 America East Champion Vermont Catamounts. New Hampshire graduate assistant coach Jen MacAulay played for MacGillivray while at Vermont.

In 2000, MacGillivray returned to Archbishop Carroll and went on to win Philadelphia Catholic Championships in 2003, ‘04 and ‘07.

He also coached for the Philadelphia AAU Lady Running Rebels in 2000-02, helping the team finish in the top three nationally each year at the 16 and under National Championships. MacGillivray also coached the Comets AAU team this past summer, which won the Mid-Atlantic 15 and under Championship and finished fourth at the 15-U National Championships.

Mountain is married to Grace. The couple has three daughters Chiara who is five, Mary who is three and Brigid who just celebrated her first birthday.
