COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A total of 14 past and present University of New Hampshire women's hockey players have been named to the U.S. National Festival roster that will compete at Lake Placid on August 15-23.

No other college in the country has more players on the 72-member roster for this year's festival than UNH. A total of 10 players have Providence ties, followed by Brown, Dartmouth and Minnesota with six each. In addition, UNH head coach Karen Kay has once again been named as one of the coaches for this year's Festival.

Former Wildcats and U.S. gold medal Olympic Team members Karyn Bye (River Falls, Wisc.), Tricia Dunn (Derry, N.H.) and Sue Merz (Greenwich, Conn.) lead an experienced group of UNH alumni that also includes five-time National Team member Erin Whitten (Glens Falls, N.Y.) and 1998 Patty Kazmaier Award winner Brandy Fisher (Potsdam, N.Y.).

Last year's Wildcat senior captain Nicki Luongo (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and senior assistant captain Melisa Heitzman (Bloomington, Minn.) were also named to the roster along with current Wildcat seniors Kerry Maher (Clifton Park, N.Y.), Tina Carrabba (Billerica, Mass.), Melissa McKenzie (Bethel Park, Penn.), Alicia Roberts (North Muskegon, Mich.), Carisa Zaban (Glenview, Ill.), junior Brandi Kearns (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and sophomore Kelly McManus (Dedham, Mass.).

From the festival, USA Hockey will select players for upcoming U.S. National Team games and tournaments including the IIHF Women's World Championships to be held in Toronto, Canada on April 1-15.
