WOMEN'S HOCKEY PLAYERS TO COMPETE AT U.S. CAMP
KACEY BELLAMY
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.Kacey Bellamy (Westfield, Mass.) and Maggie Joyce (Hudson, Ohio), both of whom competed as junior defensemen on the University of New Hampshire women’s ice hockey team in 2008, were named to the roster for the Women’s Under-22 Camp by USA Hockey on Monday. Sam Faber (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.), a junior forward, was invited to the Camp that will be held June 24–July 1 at Lake Placid, N.Y., but is unable to attend.

Bellamy and Joyce are two of 34 players who will be vying for the 22 spots on the 2008 U.S. Women’s Under-22 Select Team that will participate in the USA Hockey Women’s National Festival in August as well as the Under-22 Series vs. Canada. Faber will still be under consideration for the Select Team. Both Faber and Bellamy were members of the U.S. Women’s National Team that captured a gold medal at the 2008 IIHF Word Women’s Championship.

Bellamy ranked fourth on the team in assists (23) and led all UNH defensemen in points with 26. She ranked 10th nationally in defensemen scoring and 23rd overall in assists per game.

Joyce, who competed along with Bellamy at the 2007 USA Hockey Women’s Holiday Camp, skated in all 38 games for the Wildcats this past season. She finished with eight points on seven goals and one assist as well as a plus/minus rating of +34 that ranked first among defensemen and third overall on the team.

The duo helped lead UNH (33-4-1) to its fifth consecutive Hockey East regular-season title and
