Women’s Basketball Volunteers in Fall into a Good Book Night

DOVER, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women’s basketball team visited Garrison Elementary School to partake in the inaugural Fall into a Good Book Night on Thursday, October 3.

The event consisted of three 20-minute sessions where student-athletes coaches and volunteers paired up with children and their families to read a book in the classrooms.

Children and volunteers were dressed up in pajamas throughout the night as people read from the selection that was available in the school library.

“The children were so excited to see the women’s basketball team there,” said Beth Dutton, principal of Garrison Elementary. “As a school community, we really appreciate the time the student-athletes and coaching staff took out of their busy schedules to volunteer for the event.”

“The team had as much fun as the children,” said fourth-year head coach Maureen Magarity. "We were honored to be a part of this wonderful event.”
At the conclusion of the night, every child left the school with a new book to read.
