DURHAM, N.H.-Colleen Christopher and Maggie McKee have been named assistant coaches for the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team, UNH head coach Sandy Bridgeman announced Thursday. Christopher and McKee were Wildcat teammates under the tutelage of Bridgeman for the 1999-2001 seasons.
"I am very excited to have Maggie and Colleen join the UNH lacrosse staff," Bridgeman said. "As players, they exemplified what it means to be a Wildcat. I know they will bring that same pride, work ethic and dedication to the program as coaches and instill those values in our current players."
Christopher, a Granite State native and four-year letterwinner at UNH, left the Wildcat program ranked No. 2 on the career goals list (137) and No. 5 on the career points list (152); those numbers are currently third in goals and sixth in points. She was an IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America Second Team selection in her senior season (2001), a year in which she set the school record for points in a season with 66. Christopher, a 2001 graduate with a B.S. in Biology, has competed on the U.S. Development Team each of the past four years. She served as women's lacrosse assistant coach at Boston College in the 2001-02 season and was also an assistant at Brown University in the 2002-03 season.
McKee, a 2001 graduate with a B.A. in English, was a three-year lettterwinner at UNH who captained the 2001 Wildcat team that set school records for both goals and points in a season. She was one of the top defenseman for the 'Cats on a unit that was ranked among the national leaders for a majority of the 2001 season. In the 2003 calendar year, McKee coached the Upper New England high school lacrosse team in national tournaments and also coached the Green Mountain Girls Club team in various national competitions. McKee, an IWLCA Academic Honor Roll selection, is currently pursuing a master's degree in sport studies at UNH.
