DURHAM, N.H. – Laura Puccia, a junior midfielder on the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team, is one of six candidates for the 2014 America East Women's Lacrosse Fans' Choice Player of the Year award.

Puccia, who has started all 14 games she has played, leads UNH in goals (38), draw conrols (57) and shots (71); she also ranks second in points (44), tied for third in caused turnovers (nine) and fifth in ground balls (17). With those numbers, Puccia ranks third in America East in draw controls per game (4.07), fourth in goals per game (2.71), fifth in shots per game (5.07) and ninth in points per game (3.14).
Puccia was honored as the America East Defensive Player of the Week on April 14 following the game against Binghamton University in which she recorded career highs in draw controls (eight), ground balls (four) and caused turnovers (three); Puccia also tallied three goals and an assist that game.
Puccia has scored multiple goals each of the last 11 games and in 13 of 14 games overall this season. She matched her career highs in both assists (two) and points (six) March 10 at Iona College. Including that game, she has netted a season-high four goals four times.
New Hampshire concludes the 2014 regular season with a Senior Day home game against 20th-ranked University at Albany on April 26. Game time at Memorial Field is 12 pm.
