CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Lauren McCandless (Macungie, Pa.) of the University of New Hampshire women's swimming & diving team has been tabbed the America East Swimmer of the Week, announced Tuesday by the conference.
Earning a time of 2 minutes, 2.03 seconds in the 200-yard butterfly, McCandless set a new pool record by 77 milliseconds, eclipsing teammate Jenni Roberts' (Springvale, Maine) mark set against Rhode Island on Nov. 11, 2012. The senior also claimed the top spot in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:03.61.
McCandless was a part of four Wildcat swimmers that tallied a pair of first place finishes en route to a 171-129 victory against the University of Vermont at Swasey Pool.
Currently, McCandless ranks 28th (200-yard fly) and 137th (500-yard free) on CollegeSwimming.com amongst all Division I swimmers.
New Hampshire takes the pool again for a dual meet against Northeastern slated for Saturday, Oct. 26. The meet at Swasey Pool is set to begin at 12 p.m.
