WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD FALLS TO MAINE IN DUAL-MEET

ORONO, Maine - Senior Ashlee Lathrop (Sherburne, N.Y.) won a pair of events, but the University of New Hampshire women's indoor track & field team fell at the University of Maine, 101-86, Saturday afternoon at the UMaine Field House.

Lathrop was victorious in the weight throw with a toss of 51 feet, 3.75 inches. Lathrop also won the shot put with a throw of 35-2. Sophomore Marlene Matatics (Keene, N.H.) was second with a mark of 34-1.25.

Abigail Jenkins placed first in the pole vault, clearing a height of 10-6.

On the track, junior Brittany Verville (Bow, N.H.) was a winner for the Wildcats as she finished first in the 500 meters in a time of one minute, 19.04 seconds. Senior Tracy Howell (Grafton, Mass.) was right behind in second place at 1:19.83.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Jan. 23 at noon when they play host to Holy Cross and Quinnipiac in a tri-meet at the Paul Sweet Oval.
