CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University of New Hampshire women's track & field junior Rosemary Read (West Greenwich, R.I.) was named the America East Field Performer of the Week, while senior Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) picked up Field Performer of the Week accolades on the men's side, announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.
Read won the hammer throw at the Wildcat Invitational II over the weekend with an ECAC-qualifying toss of 173-11. That throw is a season best for the junior and ranks second in the conference this spring.
Paey took part in a pair of meets during the week, competing in the shot put at the Penn Relays and at the Wildcat Invitational II. At Penn, Paey took seventh in the 26-thrower field of the College Division with a toss of 55-11. The next day, Paey won the event in Durham with a toss of 55-06.25, and heads into the conference championship with the top throw in the conference this season.
The Wildcats return to action on May 5-6 for the America East Outdoor Championships at the University of Maine's Beckett Track & Field Complex.
