BOSTON, Mass.- The University of New Hampshire women’s indoor track and field team placed thirteenth out of thirty teams at the New England Championships held at Boston University this past Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats scored 27.50 points, just six and half points out of the top ten. The University of Connecticut won the meet with 153 points.
Rebecca Haley (Dover, N.H.) took first place in the 1000 meter run (2:53.35) and Nicole Whalen (Warwick, N.Y.) placed eighth (2:58.98). Whalen, along with Kimberly Usseglio (Watertown, Mass.), Amanda Schweizer (Merrimack, N.H.) and Latricia Rozeboom (South Haven, Mich.), helped the distance medley team garner eighth (12:08.71). In the 55 meter dash Sarah Hall (Nottingham, N.H.) placed ninth (7.34) and in the 55 meter hurdles Kiah Quarles (Derry, N.H.) posted a fifth place performance (8.24).
The pole vault event saw Rita Ciambra (Hanover, N.H.) tie for fifth (3.27m). Erin Moore (Nashua, N.H.) placed fifth in the shot put (12.97m) and seventh in the weight throw (15.30m).
UNH returns to action on Saturday (March 3) at 4 p.m. as the squad competes at the ECAC Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
