UNH's Mareb places second at prestigious Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - Emily Mareb (Great Barrington, Mass.), a sophomore on the University of New Hampshire women's outdoor track and field team, earned second place in the 10,000 meter run at the prestigious Drake Relays on Thursday.

In a field of 18 runners that included student-athletes from the Big Ten (University of Michigan, University of Minnesota), Big XII (Kansas University) and SEC (University of Mississippi), Mareb recorded the second-fastest time by crossing the finish line at Drake Stadium in 36 minutes, 4.07 seconds. Keidra Anderson (Hamline University) crossed the finish line almost 13 seconds later - at 36:17.00 - for third place.

The UNH women's track and field team has a home meet April 29. Field events at the Reggie F. Atkins Track and Field Facility begin at 11 a.m. and the track events start at 1 p.m. UNH is host of the America East Track and Field Championship on May 6-7.
