MOORE AND PARKER RECORD EARLY SEASON SUCCESS IN WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
DURHAM, N.H. – Senior thrower Erin Moore (Nashua, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire women’s outdoor track and field team recently set a third school record in her illustrious collegiate career in the hammer throw, besting UNH alum Jessica Descartes 2005 record of 160’5” on Saturday.
The America East all-conference thrower dominated the throwing events at the Dartmouth College Invitational as she set the hammer record with a throw of 165-7. She finished second in both the shot put (42-6) and hammer (165-7), in addition to a third place effort in the discus (127-3). Moore also once held the school record in indoor for the shot put, which has since been broken by Lauren Knight in 2004. Moore currently holds the indoor record in the weight throw (52’2. 75”), which was set in 2006.
In addition to Moore’s accomplishments, wildcat harrier Cathy Parker (Westford, Mass.) recently qualified for the NCAA regional meet in the 3000-meter steeplechase, which will be held on May 25, at the University of Florida. Parker’s current time of 10:26.36 places her fourth overall in the eastern region. She is ranked 13th overall in the country with plenty of time to improve on an already impressive performance.
The Wildcats recently took home second place at the Dartmouth College Invitational and return to action on Tuesday (April 24) to compete at The College of Holy Cross. The meet is set for 12 noon.
