WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD FALLS SHORT TO MAINE, 102-97
Maine – University of New Hampshire junior harrier Cathy Parker (Westford, Mass.) notched two first place finishes in the 1500m and 5000 meter run, but the Wildcats fell just short of conference rival University of Maine, 102-97, to open the 2007 outdoor track campaign on Saturday.
            The Wildcats recorded 10 first place victories, including Parker's dominant win in the 5000-meters in which she cruised to a win by over 34 seconds (17:40.42). Junior Kiah Quarles (Derry, N.H.) tallied a first place win in the 100 meter hurdles (15.16) and Kelly Thomas (Chichester, N.H.) recorded a win in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.32).
            In the field events, senior thrower Erin Moore (Nashua, N.H.) continued to shine in the shot put (41-2.5), while Ashlee Lathrop (Sherburne, N.Y.) delivered a victory in the discus (124-0).
            Sophomore Sarah Hall (Nottingham, N.H.) posted a win in the 200 meters (26.37) and Johanna Fickensher (Painesville, Ohio) raced to a time of 11:26.40 to take home top honors in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
