CIAMBRA VAULTS HER WAY TO WEEKLY CONFERENCE HONOR
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The America East conference announced Tuesday that sophomore Rita Ciambra (Hanover, N.H.), of the University of New Hampshire women’s outdoor track and field team, has been named America East Women’s Field Performer of the Week for the week ending April 7.

Ciambra picked up where she left off the indoor season at the Wildcat Invitational I on April 5, winning the pole vault by clearing a distance of 3.85 meters, which set a new school record and qualified her for the NCAA East Regional, which will take place May 30-31 at Florida State University. Ciambra also finished second in the long jump with a leap of 5.32 meters.

Ciambra submitted an outstanding indoor season, winning conference and New England titles in the pole vault, while recording six school-record leaps, including the final leap of the season March 8 at the ECAC championships that set the record at 3.85 meters. Ciambra was also named America East Women’s Indoor Field Performer of the Week on Jan. 28.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at the Wildcat Invitational II at Reggie F. Atkins Track.
