DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire track and field program announced recently that it will host a pair of clinics for both coaches and athletes after the completion of the indoor season.
The UNH Learn-by-Doing Track and Field Coaching Clinic is for high school and club coaches or masters athletes. Instruction will include learn-by-doing, video analysis and classroom instruction in the areas of sprints, jumps, hurdles and throws. The clinic will be held Monday March 9, 2009 from 5-9 p.m. Pre-registration will be accepted until March 2 and costs $40. Post-registration is $50, with on-site registration taking place from 4:30-5 p.m. on the day of the clinic.
The UNH Track and Field Clinic is for male and female athletes in grades 7-12. The learn-by-doing clinic will cover the areas of sprints, jumps, hurdles and throws. The spring clinic will be held March 23, 24 and 26. The clinic, which will have a certified athletic trainer available at all sessions, will run from 6-8 p.m. each day. Pre-registration will be accepted up to seven days before the clinic and costs $125. All pre-registered campers will receive a free T-shirt. Post-registration will cost $150, with on-site registration taking place from 5:30-6 p.m. on the first day of each clinic.
Both clinics will be held in the recently renovated Paul Sweet Oval. The indoor track has brand new light fixtures and windows, a fresh coat of paint and a brand new Mondo track surface, which is the same surface used at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. USATF-Certified coaches Jim Boulanger, Casey Carroll and George Liset will run each clinic. Coach Boulanger is the director of the UNH track and field program and has won multiple America East Coach of the Year awards. Coach Carroll is the head coach of the UNH women’s track and field program and is the reigning New England Coach of the Year, as well as a multiple America East Coach of the Year winner. Coach Liset is a former head coach of the UNH women’s track and field program and currently serves as an assistant coach with the team.
