PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team went 1-1 on the final day of the Brown Invitational on Saturday with a 3-2 loss to Georgia State and a 3-0 win over St. Peter's. The game scores in the St. Peter's match were 30-19, 30-24, 30-13 and in the Georgia State match, 25-30, 30-25, 30-23, 17-30, 14-16.
With the split on Saturday, UNH's record stands at 8-9 through 17 matches this season.
In the St. Peter's match, senior outside hitter Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) capped off a successful tournament with a team-high 14 kills and she posted 55 kills in three matches at the Brown Invitational for a 4.58 per game average over the weekend.
Sophomore outside hitter Erin Walker (Fulton, N.Y.) tallied nine kills, which was second best on the 'Cats roster and senior co-captain Sasha Scott (North Branford, Conn.) registered a team-high 12 digs in the win. Senior Anne Davis (Groveland, Ill.) posted 36 helpers as the primary setter for the 'Cat attack and senior right side hitter Erin Ludwig (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) finished the match with eight kills and three blocks.
In the Georgia State match, Coler continued her strong play with a match-high 21 kills and 18 digs. Junior middle hitter Natasha Otte (Plymouth, N.H.) and Walker amassed 18 and 16 kills, respectively. Otte's 18 kills marked a new career-high and she hit for a team-high .424 hitting percentage. Walker also chipped in with 14 digs, while Scott's 15 digs were second highest on the 'Cats roster. Davis ran the Wildcat offense with 54 assists in the loss.
UNH returns to action at home on Tuesday, Sept. 30 vs. Harvard. Match time at Lundholm Gym is 7 p.m. The UNH volleyball team opens America East play on Tuesday, Oct. 7 (7 p.m.) against the University of Maine at Lundholm Gym.
