CAMBRIDGE, Mass.
– Seniors Lindsay Fogarty
(Pleasanton, Calif.) and Kate Uitti (Pinckney,
Mich) of the University of New Hampshire volleyball team were named
America East Player and Setter of the Week, respectively, on
Monday.
Fogarty was named to the All-Tournament team, leading the Wildcats
to a perfect 3-0 record and the title at the Providence College
Friar Classic. The senior outside hitter hit at a .360 clip with a
team-best 44 kills in four matches total last week, including a 3-1
mid-week victory at Northeastern. Fogarty hit 14 kills with a .462
percentage against the Huskies. She also hit 13 kills at a .286
rate against St. Francis (N.Y.), 12 kills at a .276 clip against
Providence and five kills against just one error while playing just
one set against Coppin State. Fogarty averaged 4.00 kills per set
for the week and added six blocks, including four in the tournament
finale against the host Friars, seven digs and two assists. This is
Fogarty's first career Player of the Week award.
Uitti, who reached the 3,000 career assists mark two weekends ago,
was named MVP and All-Tournament team selection in leading the
Wildcats to the PC Friar Classic title last weekend. Uitti
continues to set the tone for the Wildcat offense, handing out 123
assists (11.18 aps), including three matches with 30+ assists. She
aided the Wildcats' team hitting percentage of .216 and the team's
conference-high 13.85 kills per set last week. In addition to her
high assist total, Uitti added 24 digs (2.18 dps), seven aces, five
blocks and a pair of kills. This is Uitti's sixth career weekly
honor from the conference and the fifth Setter of the Week
award.
