ORONO, Maine - Seniors Jennifer Racine (Haverhill, Mass.) and Andrew Dionne (Westerly, R.I.) each turned in top-five finishes, but the University of New Hampshire women's and men's cross country teams, respectively, dropped dual meets against the University of Maine at the Maine Cross Country Course on Friday afternoon.
Racine finished fourth in a time of 18 minutes, 42 seconds, but the women fell to the Black Bears by a score of 18-42.
Freshman Kayla Pellegrini (Derry, N.H.) and sophomore Megan Trow (Fall Mountain, N.H.) rounded out the top five Wildcat finishers as they crossed the finish line in 11th and 12th, respectively, in times of 20:02 and 20:21.
On the men's side, Dionne placed fifth in a time of 26:00, but the squad fell by a score of 17-43.
Freshman Joseph Jourdain (Hudson, N.H.) and sophomore Kent Harlow (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) placed sixth and ninth, respectively, in times of 26:08 and 26:29.
Freshman John Corona (Middletown, Conn.) and senior Michael Peabody (Londonderry, N.H.) rounded out the top five Wildcat finishers as they finished in 11th and 12th, respectively, in times of 26:42 and 26:57.
The Wildcats return to action Friday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. when they head to Lehigh University for the Paul Short Invitational.
